    • Street: type the address of your organization’s headquarters. For instance, 2344 Thomas St.
    • Locality (City): write the full name of the city where your company is registered. For example, San Francisco
    • State/Province: enter the full name of the state where your company is located. For example, California
    • Country: from the drop-down list, select your country.
    • Key Type: RSA
    • Key Length: 2048 bits
  4. Double check the information you’ve just entered and click Generate
  5. Specify the location where you want to save your CSR and private key files, then click OK
  6. You can open the CSR file with any text editor of your choice such as Notepad and copy its contents into the corresponding box during the certificate order on your SSL vendor’s page.

Install an SSL Certificate on Cerberus FTP Server

After the CA signs and delivers your SSL Certificate to your inbox, download the ZIP folder and extract the SSL files on your device. You should have the PEM-formatted SSL certificate file, and depending on your CA, the Intermediate certificate or the CA bundle containing the root and intermediate certs. To add the SSL Certificate to Cerberus FTP Server, perform the following:

  1. In your Cerberus FTP dashboard, open the server manager by selecting Configuration > Server Manager
  2. From the left menu, select Security
  3. Under the Server Key Pair, import your SSL files as shown below:
    • Certificate Path: click the file selection button and import your SSL certificate file
    • Private Key Path: click the file selection button and import your private key. You’ve created the private key along with your CSR code. If your public and private key are in the same file then set this path to be the same as the Certificate file path.
    • CA Certificate Path: click the file selection button and import your CA Bundle file containing the root and intermediate certificates
    • Needs Key Password – Check this option if your certificate is encrypted.
    • Password – If the certificate is encrypted then this is the password used to decrypt it. The password is the same password you used to create the certificate request with your 3rd party certificate authority.
  4. Click Verify to check your SSL configuration, then hit Save.
