DV wildcards issue in about 5 minutes after domain control validation. OV wildcards take 1 to 3 business days because of the business verification step. DNS-based validation is the fastest method for DV orders and the easiest to automate.

Is There an EV Wildcard SSL Certificate?
No. Extended Validation requires every domain on the certificate to be verified individually, which rules out wildcard scope. If you want EV trust on your main site plus wildcard coverage for subdomains, pair an EV single-domain certificate with an OV wildcard.

What Does a Wildcard SSL Certificate Not Cover?
Nested subdomains. A certificate for *.example.com covers mail.example.com but not inbox.mail.example.com. For nested coverage or multiple base domains, choose a multi-domain wildcard, the only product type that handles both at once.

Are DV SSL Certificates Safe for E-Commerce?
Not the right fit. DV encrypts the connection but doesn’t verify the business behind the site, so it misses the identity assurance shoppers expect on checkout pages.
